Select Stain Type
Wool generally should be dry cleaned. Always follow garment label instructions when pretreating and laundering your clothes. For colored garments, test an inside seam for colorfastness.
If the garment is washable, harden wax with ice, then remove surface wax with a dull knife. Place wax stain between clean paper towels and press with a warm iron. Replace paper towels regularly to absorb more wax and to prevent transferring the stain. Once most of the wax is absorbed into the towel, sponge remaining stain with stain remover; then blot with paper towel. Alternatively, melt wax by pouring hot water directly on the back side of the stain (garment) or by placing the back side of the garment on a hot wet towel. Then wash in the maximum temperature recommended on the label with Perwoll Balsam Magic. Note: If any wax color remains, relaunder with a wool compatible stain remover. If dry clean only, take it to the dry cleaner for stain removal.
